\nDear\n Colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nwe\n are happy to announce that the \u201cGlobal Center of Spatial Methods for \nUrban Sustainability\u201d (GCSMUS) together with the Research Committee on \n\u201cLogic and Methodology in Sociology\u201d (RC33) of the \u201cInternational \nSociology Association\u201d (ISA) and the Research Network\n \u201cQuantitative Methods\u201d (RN21) of the European Sociology Association\u201d \n(ESA) will organize a\n\u201c1st<\/sup> International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Spatial Methods for Urban Sustainability\u201d (\u201cSMUS Conference\u201d)<\/strong> which will at the same time be the\n\u201c1st<\/sup> RC33 Regional Conference \u2013 Africa: Botswana\u201d<\/strong> from\n Monday 15.03 \u2013 Sunday 21.03.2021, hosted by the University of Botswana \nin Gaborone, Botswana. The main conference days will be from Thursday \n18.03. \u2013 Saturday 20.03.2021. There will be\n travel grants GCSMUS members and African scholars can apply for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \nThe\n seven-days conference aims at promoting a global dialogue on methods<\/strong> and should attract\nmethodologists from all over the world and all social and spatial sciences<\/strong>\n (e.g. area studies, architecture, communication studies, educational \nsciences, geography, historical sciences, humanities, landscape \nplanning, philosophy, psychology, sociology,\n urban design, urban planning, traffic planning and environmental \nplanning). Additionally, the conference programme will include advanced \nmethodological training courses, Ph.D. workshops and a social programme.\n Thus, the conference will enable scholars to get\n in contact with methodologists from various disciplines all over the \nworld and to deepen discussions with researchers from various \nmethodological angles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \nWith\n this mission, we invite<\/strong> scholars of all social and spatial sciences<\/strong> and other scholars who are interested into methodological discussions\nto suggest a session topic<\/strong>. Conference sessions should mainly \naddress a methodological problem. All sessions on general issues of \nsocial science methodology and epistemology as well as on qualitative, \nquantitative and mixed methods approaches are equally\n welcome. In addition, we especially invite scholars to suggest session \ntopics on one of the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nspatial methods and analysis<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \ncross-cultural methods and issues of comparability<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \ndecolonizing social science methodology<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nmethods of and for the Global South<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nmethodological issues relevant for specific world regions (e.g. Africa, America, Asia, Europe)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nmonitoring and evaluation methods and analysis<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \napplied research methods on urban design, urban planning, traffic planning and environmental planning<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \narts- and design-based methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nparticipatory and action research methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \ninterdisciplinary and collaborative research methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nbig data, digital methods and cross-disciplinary research<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nmethods for values research, global wellbeing and sustainability<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nmethods for analysis of space and social inequality (e.g. space and class, gendered spaces, space and age, space and race)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \nIf\n you are interested in organizing a session, please submit an abstract containing the following information to (botswana2021@mes.tu-berlin.de<\/a><\/strong>)\nby 31.03.2020<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nSession\n Title<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nSession\n Organizers (Name, Email-Address, Institutional Affiliation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\u2012 \nSession\n Abstract (containing a short description of the session and the type of papers you want to be submitted to the session).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \nIf\n you do not receive an acknowledgement of submission within three \nworking days, please resend your submission.
